Applique & Kandinsky

In every book on my crafting library shelf is something that I want to make. There is no way I am going to get to everything. I thought I would highlight some of the books and the projects that caught my eye. At least this way I can share an idea I had for a particular technique. At the bottom and left side of the photo is a page from a new Interweave Press book, “Fabricate” by Susan Wasinger, 2009. I loved this applique edging she put on the flap of a bag. I thought it might be fun to try the technique stitching some of the line elements from Kandinsky’s etchings over some of the colorful shapes found in his paintings. Wouldn’t Calder’s wire animals and people be fun to stitch mingled with shapes from his mobiles?
