“Make It with Mademoiselle”

A few days ago I posted about “knit.1” magazine. Well the magazine I loved as a girl in the 1970s was “Mademoiselle”.  I loved everything about the magazine and was sad when it was no longer published. I have a hard back (much loved and falling apart) copy of the 1977 edition of “Make It with Mademoiselle”. I used so many of the patterns back then. I think with only a little updating many of the ideas would be just what today’s do it yourself and UpCycle crafters would use. There are also lots of easy patterns for knit and crochet berets, tank tops, and shawls that look similar to what is in today’s pattern magazines. There is even a pattern for a stingy tote for ‘bring your own bag’ grocery shopping. I think the blue tank top looks like one in today’s pattern magazines and the crochet halter would work for girls who want to show off their tattoos.  So much has changed since the 1970’s, it is fun to look back and see at least knitting and crochet haven’t.
