Bees’ Bag?

I just finished listening to Sue Monk Kidd’s “The Secret Lives of Bees” and really liked the book. It is very sad in places, but the other parts more than make up for that. Well I’ve been thinking about it most of today and remembered this pattern book by Carolyn Pearce. It is a pattern that teaches lots of different embroidery stitches and techniques. I was always bothered by the girl on the side being so big in relation to the houses. On one side there is a needle book stitched to look like a bee hive and the house on the front is already pink. So I got to thinking what if I made the house on the back a honey house and replaced the girl on the side with images of Lily and August. I could still make the thimble holder a basket, but the tape measure holder could be done to look like May’s wall. There are other book details that I could work out too, like the jars of Black Madonna honey and jasmine flowers. I think I am starting a new journey, but need time to figure out the map (sketch ideas) and itinerary (details).
